Dymond Engineering attended the MADE (Exeter Chamber’s manufacturing group) Christmas meeting last week.
Hosted by Michelmores LLP and chaired by Gerry Shattock, from Exeter Science Park, it was mainly an informal drinks gathering supported by presentations from MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service) and the Bank of England.
MAS gave a presentation of the findings of their quarterly South West manufacturing barometer which found that overall indicators were positive and improving, including for engineering, metal products and construction, all of which are important for our customers at Dymond Engineering & Metal Products.
This was largely reflected in the Bank of England presentation which concluded that the economy will continue to grow in 2014, but because this growth is fueled by consumer spending from credit and savings it was uncertain whether growth would continue in 2015 without investment and infrastructure developments beyond housing.
Aside from the presentations we enjoyed drinks and nibbles kindly provided by our hosts, and networked with some interesting people including some who are interested in our metal fabrication capabilities.
