The Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) is a government scheme aimed at encouraging major manufacturers and suppliers to source from UK supply chains by providing funding to help develop the capacity and capability of UK companies to be able to support manufacturing in the UK.
AMSCI has now launched a sixth round of funding worth £100 million for this purpose of supporting and encouraging reshoring for manufacturing, primarily through R&D, skills training and capital investment.
This is great news for sub-contract engineering and metal fabrication companies like Dymond who manufacture metal products and component parts on behalf of major manufacturers and suppliers within the UK and locally in Devon.
When Vince Cable visited the North Devon Manufacturers Association towards the end of last year he was very impressed by the strength of manufacturing here in Devon and talked about an intention to make funding available for development. It’s good to see this coming through.
