Sue from Dymond Engineering attended a very useful and informative conference at Plymouth University last week regarding the offshore renewables sector.
The conference was jointly organised by GROW:Offshore Wind, a division of MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service), and the university’s Marine Innovation Centre, who are taking the lead on supporting engineering and manufacturing companies in the South West to enter the offshore supply chain.
As well as being very informative, the speakers had a genuine appreciation of the practical role the Innovation Centre and GROW can play in supporting businesses to supply into this sector, including business introductions, Meet the Buyer events and routes to funding. This practical approach was very refreshing and encouraging.
With specific regard to the metal fabrication and engineering services that Dymond Engineering and Metal Products can provide, the organisers saw opportunities for us to supply metal components to manufacturers of the turbine towers, which has exciting possibilities for us.
The next step will be for them to visit the Dymond factory in Barnstaple to better understand what bespoke metal products we can supply and who we would supply metalwork to, so watch this space…..
