At the last NDMA committee meeting held on 20 November, Mike Garner of Dymond Engineering & Metal Products Ltd was announced as the new Treasurer for the North Devon Manufacturers Association.
The NDMA, which meets in Barnstaple, is a really important organisation for North Devon businesses, including manufacturing, engineering and supplier companies. It is served brilliantly by Chairman Phil Scotcher of TDK-Lambda UK in Ilfracombe, and Secretary Godfrey Tucker of Catalyst Solutions UK Ltd, based in Barnstaple, and supported by a core of committee members who meet monthly, including Sue and Mike of Dymond Engineering.
Many people from outside of the area are surprised that North Devon has such an association, let alone sufficient manufacturers to require it. But the NDMA provides a vital conduit both for networking and information sharing. It communicates information about the complex range of training and funding bodies that are out there; it organises the prestigious annual manufacturing Awards Evening; holds monthly breakfast meetings covering diverse and relevant topics; and arranges best practice visits to some of the leading manufacturing and engineering companies in Devon and the UK.
