As members of the North Devon Manufacturers Association (NDMA), Dymond Engineering attended the 22nd Annual NDMA awards on Thursday 16th May at the Barnstaple Hotel.
As always it was a fantastic night, celebrating the vibrant manufacturing sector here in North Devon.
As a member of the organising committee with responsibility for the arrangements on the night, Dymond’s Sue Roberts was delighted that the evening all went smoothly and was a great success.
The event was MC’d by David Fitzgerald from BBC Devon, otherwise known by his listeners as “Fitz”. The enigmatic Fitz entertained us throughout the night with amusing stories from his broadcasting career.
But the highlights of the evening were the awards, which commenced with the Schools Awards for the under 16’s and Educational Technology Awards for the 16+ age group. As always the entries for these awards were incredibly impressive and showcase wonderful engineering talent amongst North Devon’s pupils.
These were followed by our Guest speaker Diane Dimond, Principal and CEO of Petroc College, who in turn was followed by the manufacturing awards in ten categories. These were introduced by Head Judge, Mark Stone.
We also held a charity raffle which this year was in aid of Over and Above, which supports Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust. This charity was nominated and introduced to us by Richard Barnes of Beran Instruments Ltd who had received life-saving treatment at the NDDH ICU for a series of critical conditions. The raffle raised £1915 for the charity.
All in all it was a great night, hosted by the Barnstaple Hotel who put on a great dinner as always.
